Oskar Fest - the last one 03.09.2002
The venue was our German School at the theatre place. Sycamore's last performance before our vocalist Tom would be leaving for good to Europe in order to study. As this had to be something special we put up a funny set of songs to perform. Our intro was based on some bluesy style music. We hardly practiced for that one, maybe just once or twice to get the grooviness going. After that Breach the Gates and Beer Song were up to play. Since we were’nt given that much time to play we kept it simple with those two noizy songs. But before starting to play, our guitarist (Ben) still had to tune down to D or something like that. That's when the "crowd" (if you can call it that way) demanded a little drumming action from me. Even though it was short, I still had a chance to hit a good beat and bring in my favourite one footed double bass beats. So far so good. Yes and the rest was about 10 minutes of nice, loud and powerfull music by Sycamore. There wasn't even a mosh pit, as this festival was some sort of "Nominated for this and that" party; but we still had a good time enjoying every minute of it. To give our performance a wonderfull cheesy end we officially said good bye to Tom and gave him a t-shirt with the Sycamore logo on the front. He actually liked it.
That's how our performance worked out. With tiny mistakes here and there we were all sastified. But that was not the whole deal for this night.
At about the end of this festival the people still attending the nomination party had the exclusive honour to watch our first ever home productions music video of our song "write to me". The video featured our old vocalist Massimo and special guest Moira; with exclusive band pratice scenes and footage of the studio where we recorded our upcomig CD which is still in production.
Thanks to Miriam K. , who hosted the Oskar Festival we could get this last chance to perform live and loud.
This still doesn’t mean we’re kind of not there anymore or split up. Plans to continue making music are in the air and maybe we’ll contact Moira for some female vocals or maybe we’ll just keep it instrumental – who knows anyway.
